Show synopsis:
Our show 'Othello' features a unique melange of puppetry and acting, designed to captivate and engage audiences of all ages.
In this unique performance of Shakespeare's Othello, the actors demonstrate the captivating potential of puppets and objects as tools to express the play's depth and metaphorical essence. They do not simply substitute human actors with their miniature equivalents, but ingeniously use puppets to show new aspects of the characters and situations in the play.
The story delves into the eternal themes of power and love, illustrating the old truism that "anything goes" in the pursuit of it. It revolves around the cunning and manipulative figure of Iago, a skilled lackey who uses deceit and perfidy to distort the perspective of the naive and affectionate warrior Othello in order to seize power.
This innovative puppet theater adaptation breathes new life into Shakespeare's exploration of human ambition and jealousy. It is a show that can be appreciated by audiences of all ages. Get ready to watch Shakespeare's story from an exciting perspective where puppets become conduits that reveal the inner layers of the human condition.
Nominations and/or show awards:
The show was awarded the prestigious "Best Director" award at the 30th Cairo International Experimental Theater Festival.
