Show synopsis:

The show is an original take on the classic Shakespearean tragedy. Fren_Ák's concept aims to delve into the deep layers of the story, emphasizing the characters' internal struggles rather than social conflicts. The choreographer is concerned with the tragedy that unfolds on an inner, emotional plane, as the two young people fall into the clutches of their own illusions. Fren_Ák accentuates human tensions, showing the clash between two characters caught in their desires and illusions, distorted by consumer culture. Man becomes a puppet estranged from his environment, his community, his partner, and ultimately himself.

Director biography:

Fren_Ák (Pál Frenák) was born in Budapest in 1957. His childhood was marked by the fact that his parents were deaf, thus Fren_Ák learned to express himself in sign language from an early age, which developed a special receptivity to non-verbal expressions and gestures, the expressiveness of the human body. In 1999 Compagnie Pal Frenak, which already had a ten-year history in France, was supplemented by young Hungarian dancers, thus becoming a Hungarian-French troupe based in Paris and Budapest, with a unique dance language characterized by the integrated use of mimicry, sign language and body movement.
