An ancient vendetta between two powerful families erupts into a massacre. A group of masked Montagues risk escalating the conflict by barging in uninvited to a Capulet party. A young love interest, Romeo Montague, falls instantly in love with Juliet Capulet, who is about to marry her father's choice, Count Paris. With the help of Juliet's housekeeper, the women arrange for the two to be married the next day, but Romeo's attempt to stop a street fight results in the death of Juliet's own cousin, Tybalt, for which Romeo is exiled. In a desperate attempt to reunite with Romeo, Juliet follows her father's plan and fakes her own death. The message does not reach Romeo, who, believing Juliet to be dead, takes his own life in the crypt where she lies. Juliet wakes up to find Romeo's dead body next to her and kills herself. The grieving family agrees to end their feud.
